Tiffany and Todd opted for an in-home engagement session, my favorite kind. But first, they wanted to stop by the dive bar where they like to hang out. So we started at Captain Keno’s in Encinitas. Captain Keno’s is vintage North County San Diego cool. We managed to find a quiet and cozy red vinyl booth with Christmas lights strung above.
When shooting engagement sessions, I love to incorporate locations that are meaningful to the couple. Whether it’s where they met, had their first date, at their favorite hangout, or in their home. After goofing around at the bar, we headed to Tiffany and Todd’s home.
I scoped out their place while they freshened up. Their three cats kept a close eye on me as I looked around their home for good light and to gain more insight to their personalities and relationship. Their pad is just as cool and eclectic as the dive bar. I could tell right away that we had a lot of options to personalize this in-home engagement session. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding this fall at San Diego Botanic Garden.
Whether you are engaged, married or have children, in-home sessions are the best. They allow me to tell your story in a very personal and authentic way. You are in your element, vulnerable and honest. It is such a beautiful thing to witness and to capture. In-home engagement sessions are absolutely my favorite.
