Amy and Scott’s San Diego Botanic Garden wedding was a fun and emotional celebration, combining tradition with the unconventional.
They started their celebration with the Kabalat Panim, a Jewish tradition where friends and family get to witness the couple seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day. Scott and Amy were guided together back-to-back by their friends, singing and dancing. After they turned around to see one another, their parents whispered blessings into their ears and they signed the ketubah. Then they carried the ceremony into the walled garden, where Scott sang a call and response song he had written. Amy’s best friend officiated, and friends spoke about the Earth and committing to living simply and sustainably. This wedding was a true representation of Amy and Scott.
They turned the gazebo lawn into a bohemian lounge, where personal and traditional themes continued into their reception. They started with traditional events such as the first dance, toasts, and the hora. After a little more dancing, a jam session and singalong broke out, featuring Scott on keys and several friends playing a variety of instruments.
It was a wedding unlike any other for a one of a kind couple. Congratulations, Amy and Scott. I am so happy to have met you both.
